WizeTherapy provides a school screening service to identify children at risk of difficulties in their typical development in the most critical periods of schooling during the early, middle and high school years. Overall, screenings would briefly assess the foundation skills across the three main developmental areas of fine motor, gross motor and speech and language skills. It will identify those students who may require further detailed assessment and intervention support. The professionals at WizeTherapy can work closely with the student, staff and family members to provide appropriate assessment and intervention if needed.

General Kindergarten and Pre-Primary Screenings
A small group (2-3 children) screening involving the assessment of foundation skills across the three main developmental areas of fine motor, gross motor and speech and language skills, including drawing and cutting, postural strength and awareness, and early phonological awareness, among other areas.

Screening is proposed to last approximately 30 minutes in duration per group.

General Early to Middle primary school (Grade 1-3)
A small group (3-5 children) screening involving the assessment of foundation skills across the three main developmental areas of fine motor, gross motor and speech and language skills, including handwriting speed, visual perception, strength and endurance, story-telling, and high level phonological awareness, among other areas.

Screening is proposed to last approximately 45 minutes in duration per group.

Occupational Therapy Screenings
WizeTherapy provides a school screening service to identify children at risk of handwriting difficulties in the most critical periods of schooling during the early years, middle school years and high school years. Overall, screenings briefly assess pre-writing and fine motor skills.

In the older children (Grade 2-5) handwriting speed, legibility, basic comprehension, problem solving and composition parameters will also be screened.

In high school students (Grade 8-11) the screening will briefly assess handwriting speed, executive functions and language components of compositional writing. It will identify those students who may require further detailed assessment and intervention support.

The professionals at WizeTherapy will work closely with the student, staff and family members to provide appropriate assessment and intervention if needed.

Speech Pathology Screenings
WizeTherapy provides a speech pathology school screening service to identify children at risk of delay in their speech and language skills as well as the underlying processes and skills necessary for their development of literacy. It will identify those students who may require further detailed assessment and intervention support.

In the early years (Kindergarten and Pre-primary) screenings will involve assessment of each child’s expressive and receptive oral language skills, speech, early phonological awareness and word meaning relationships.

Grade One screenings will involve assessment of each child’s ability to tell stories with particular focus on their grammatical usage and sentence formation, oral language, sound/letter correspondence, higher level phonological awareness skills and speech.

Middle school screenings (Grade 3) will involve assessments of oral language, reading (including reading fluency, accuracy and comprehension), storytelling and writing, problem solving and high level phonological awareness skills.

The professionals at WizeTherapy will work closely with the student, staff and family members to provide appropriate assessment and intervention if needed.

Physiotherapy Screenings
WizeTherapy provides a school screening service to identify children at risk of difficulties in their gross motor development in the most critical periods of schooling during the early and middle school. Overall, screenings would briefly assess foundation motor skills, balance, strength, muscular tone, motor planning and sensorimotor integration.

In the older children (from Grade 2-3) higher balance skills, movement timing, co-ordination, sequencing and movement composition will also be screened.

In the Upper Primary (Grade 7) the screening comprises of postural analysis, strength, dynamic balance, visual motor coordination, fitness and flexibility. It will identify those students who may require further detailed assessment and intervention support.
