This week is very special for us here at WizeTherapy, as it’s been 10 years since we opened!

Over the last 10 years, we’ve been blessed to work with so many amazing families and therapists. We would like to say thank you to each and every one of you who has been part of this incredible journey!

Here’s a message from the compassionate and inspirational lady we are lucky enough to call our Director, Paula Dyke. This is how it all began!

‘I established WizeTherapy after resigning from my role as a Senior Manager in a large disability organisation, to assist in caring for my father who was dying of a brain tumour. Following his death, I felt I could no longer work in such highly political environments, where the ability to make changes and ‘make a difference’ was a continual challenge.

I felt there was a need for a ‘one-stop shop’, where families could easily access all three therapy services of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology. So, myself and a small group of highly skilled therapists opened the doors of WizeTherapy in a small shop front in Marmion Street, Myaree. We began without a single client and 10 years later hundreds of clients have used our services.

The last 10 years have been both extremely rewarding and challenging. It has been rewarding in being able to play a significant role in assisting children and adolescents and their families to achieve their goals. It has also been rewarding to be able to provide the opportunity for employment to therapists in difficult economic times. It has been challenging primarily in terms of financial survival. Without the belief in what I was trying to do and the associated financial support of my family and close friends, there are at least three occasions where WizeTherapy would not have survived. It is not a business, due to the nature of services provided, that will ever make a lot of money, but it is a business that has now consolidated financially and more importantly, is making a contribution to the community that we are very proud of.

I say WE as the reputation of WizeTherapy has been built on the expertise and commitment of many therapists and administrative staff who have worked for the organisation over the 10 years. Thank you to all who have supported us in our journey so far, and we look forward to providing many more years of service to the community.’
